About

Ed is a (mostly) self-taught artist. His artistic inclinations grew from a young age, spending summers with his grandmother – an accomplished sculptor and painter. Working in her shop, he was exposed firsthand to the creative process and artistic lifestyle. Throughout school, Ed dabbled in various art forms, from sculpture to music, photography and finally painting. It was at University that his studies in psychology drew him to abstract art as a way to create tangible manifestations of metaphysical ideas and the shared experiences of human existence.

Ed works in oil, acrylic, encaustic and mixed media techniques.

Statement

Each of us exists in two worlds, the tangible outer world and the inner world of our own minds and perceptions. My paintings, informed by my background in psychology and philosophy, serve as a bridge - connecting both the artist and the viewer in a metaphysical sense and an exploration of thought, emotion, myth and perception.
